Calling Bilingual First Grade Teacher, HELP!

If you are a first grade bilingual teacher then I could really use your help.  I am trying to create a homework pack for September in Spanish for Spanish Language Arts and I need ideas of what to add it.

I am trying to keep in mind that the kids will still be like little kindergartners when they start the year off, so I am making the first week or two pretty simple.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what you would like to see in the packet if you were to purchase I would be ever so grateful.

Any comments or suggestions would be so appreciated!!!

Thank you!

Also, I will give you a shout-out in the packet and give you a copy of anything in my store for free if you give me suggestions!! :)

  1. I am actually a kinder SLA teacher, buuuuut.... I would suggest short comprehension passages with both multiple choice and fill in the blank answers. These are so hard to find in Spanish. I would also definitely include journal writing pages with prompts. Also something with high fequency words and/or spelling 2-3 syllable words. Hope this helps.

  2. Fun idea! I would also suggest review of patterning, simple addition, shape recognition, and/or reading word problems and drawing out their thinking to solve them. These are some math things expected at the end of Kindergarten so it would be good to see who remembered them after the summer! Good luck! I'm excited to see how it comes out.

  3. Hello from a fellow first grade bilingual teacher from Texas! One thing that was included in our homework assignments were correcting sentences. Perhaps start the year off easily just having them correct the beginning of the sentence with a capital letter and later make it harder by correcting misspellings and using the correct punctuation. Hope this helps :)
